We first opened our doors in 1989, in Durham, CT, as "Favorite Things" and over the years, as we developed a loyal and expanding clientele, we grew to second location on Block Island. Shortly after opening the shop on Block Island, the Durham business "Favorite Things" was sold and we reinvented ourselves as "A Pocketful of Posies" (named for our Bichon Frise, Posy). Although Block Island was an idyllic location, it was difficult to manage from our home in CT and it was important to us to have our business operating closer to our home, so that we could give it as much attention as we felt we needed to. It was then that we discovered the old, historic home in Essex Village that, with extensive, careful refurbishment, became the perfect new home for our shop.

We take pride in providing excellent service, wonderful choices, aesthetic surroundings, and memorable experiences.
